En energy system with 100 % local renewable energy
The energy system consists of 120 m2 solar cells and a wind turbine with 2 MW of electricity generation. Heat is generated by solar panels placed on ten buildings in the area, and by using an heat pump that collects energy from a groundwater aquifer.
The area's district heating- and cooling system is connected to the city of Malmö's existing system. In the Bo01 area there are five hot and five cold aquifer wells with a depth of 90 meters. In the winter, the heat pump runs against the warm side of the aquifer, the groundwater is cooled and stored on the cold side. At the same time, the heat pump can deliver district heating. In the summer, the cold side of system is used.
Bo01 lend overproduction of energy to Malmö, that in return gives energy back when there is lack of energy in the area. The same procedure applies to electricity consumption, thus the concept of 100 percent renewable energy is on an annual basis.
